adidas reissues one of the rarest sneakers from the famed City Series with the return of the Java.

It's hard to overstate the impact of adidas' City Series models.  For devout collectors in the 1970s and '80s, the hunt for increasingly rarer releases from this ongoing line was all-encompassing. So much so, that many (mostly) men carry the itch with them to this day, powering demand for bringbacks and even the entire SPZL line run by Gary Aspden.

The Java is one of the rarest, released as part of an Indonesian island series which also included the Bali. The Java proved one of the hardest models to source, giving this seemingly innocuous blue and red sneaker mythical status amongst terrace subculture.
